Q&A: Who is the weakest race for bodybuilding?

Tuesday, September 7th, 2010

Question by John Boy: Who is the weakest race for bodybuilding?
I am not a racist. I dont think any race is superior or inferior. I was just looking at bodybuilding and a lot of bodybuilding has to do with genetics. Which race has the weakest genes for bodybuilding. I know theres bodybuilders in every race but which race finds it hard to gain serious mass and size or muscle?
Are south asians at a greater disadvatnge then oriental asians?
Thanks I wanted a honest clear answer to this question. This is exactly what i wanted to know.

Best answer:

Answer by Cruz ☮ – London Calling
Your right, genetics has a mssive part to play when it comes to bodybuilding and certain races have advantages/disadvantages.
For example black people have great genes for building muscle mass. Its not racist, the evidence speak for themselves.
Asian, mainly south asian(indian, pakistan, Bangladesh) have a disadvantage when it comes to building muscle mass.
So, to answer your question, south asian are at a disadvantage when it comes to body building.

-EDIT… yeah, i think so, although orientals are too at a disatvantage. But South asians are the winners of the weakest genes. They will even admit it themselves, im not being racist.

What is the difference between BODYBUILDING and POWER LIFTING?

Question by Tom L: What is the difference between BODYBUILDING and POWER LIFTING?
Well, power lifting is just weight lifting, so as body building.

Bodybuilding is for muscle mass and power lifting is for muscle strength, but what is the difference? how are the workouts different?

Best answer:

Answer by barry
Bodybuilding is to look good for the audience when competing. Their workouts depends on if you’re bulking or cutting. If you’re bulking (gaining mass) then you’ll use heavy weight and low reps when training. For cutting (getting ripped) it’s vice versa. Low weight and high reps. Powerlifting is to compete for strength. Their workouts use extreme weight which is more of what a bodybuilder would use when bulking. Hope this has helped.

What does it mean in bodybuilding when the rep speed is 311?

Saturday, August 21st, 2010

Question by Paradox: What does it mean in bodybuilding when the rep speed is 311?
What does it mean in bodybuilding when the rep speed is 311? 211?

Best answer:

Answer by Frank
two seconds on the concentric phase, one second pause, one second on the eccentric phase.

Eg if you were doing bicep curls that’s two seconds on the way up, a one second pause and one second on the way down.

However 2-1-1 rep speed is not recommended as it means that you will not have good control of the weight on the way down, which increases risk of injury, and also there are great strength benefits to lowering the weight slowly.

2-1-2 or 2-1-3 or 2-3 are better and most often recommended by professionals (like myself)

What does it mean when someone has good genetics for bodybuilding?

Answer by The Colonel
Generally speaking, you have to begin with a good bone structure…meaning, shoulders are broad, waist thin, legs not too long or short. Then, we either have a pre-disposition for lean muscle mass or we don’t. Being “big boned” and or stocky” doesn’t usually translate well to becoming a body builder, but could translate well to being a power lifter for example. Having a high metabolic propensity is also favorable…meaning, you can add weight and take it off quickly when needed.

Q&A: What are you thoughts about bodybuilding for competitions?

Question by Karole: What are you thoughts about bodybuilding for competitions?
I know someone who is into bodybuilding and wants to compete on stage. Some say it is a sport, but some don’t think it is right to show off your body like that. What do you think?

Best answer:

Answer by LoveBiceps
There is no harm in showing off what one has worked so hard to achieve, if people are interested and willing to pay money to see it. Personally, I body build because I love the muscle. I love the way my muscles look and the way they feel, on the inside and outside. I love the pump, especially a biceps pump. I love showing off by wearing tank top shirts and shorts. I am not that big at all but compared to “normal” people I am. But I am not interested in the dieting, posing, tanning, and other disciplines that pro bodybuilders go through, not to mention that most of them use steroids to get that big and hard.

Whether bodybuilding is a sport or not depends on your definition of the word. A true sport is decided by the athletes on the field/court, not by judges. An athletic event where the winner is decided by a group of judges instead of by the athletes is not a true sport in my opinion – it is an exhibition, a show. By that definition, gymnastics, figure skating and diving (to name a few) would not be considered sports, but most people define any athletic activity as a sport. But chess and poker are also sports that don’t require any athletic ability at all. It is an interesting debate.

What the difference between bodybuilding and strength training?

Friday, August 6th, 2010

Question by B-rad: What the difference between bodybuilding and strength training?
what type of workouts do you do for bodybuilding and same for strength training

i think its about the reps and Weight but im not sure

Best answer:

Answer by steinararason
Bodybuilding is about pumping the muscles with many reps. You know like 5×15 reps for each workout.

But strength training is different. Then you maxed out your strength with as much weight you can handle and the reps are like this.

For example:
Bench press: 10 reps, 8 reps, 6 reps, only 3 times but the last time you need your partner to spot you to get the most out of it.

Question by :) : What is the difference between strength lifting and bodybuilding lifting plans?
I work out every few days and i have tried a lot of different lifting routines. Right now i lift 4 sets at 8-10 reps. I am strong and ripped but not “big.” I think this might be because of my type of workout. I know there is difference between strength lifting and bodybuilding lifting. Should i do a bodybuilding type of workout to gain weight? Also, what is good bodybuilding routine?

Best answer:

Answer by stateoffluxxx
To build strength and endurance you need to do high amount of reps with a lower weight. To body build you need to lift a high amount of weight doing a lower amount of reps. :)

BodyBuilding?

Thursday, August 5th, 2010

Question by joekick@$$: BodyBuilding?
i have recently lost alot of weight and want to start bodybuilding but i scared of gaining back the weight also i am in a tight budget what supplements work for building lean mass and what are some good foods

Best answer:

Answer by Dubbl1
Protein, protein and protein! A high protein diet will build you LEAN muscle and not unwanted fat. Try to take in 2 grams of protein per body pound through foods such as chicken, fish and meats. Also, train HARD with heavy weights and lower reps. You need a spotter because to build you want the last few reps of each set to burn. Make sure you do cardio 2-3 times a week to keep your metabolism up and fat down. Last, but not least, drink a ton of water. This will keep you hydrated, your metabolism up and your body looking good. Bodybuilding is not a hobby, it’s a lifestyle. The amount of food and supplements needed to be effective is not cheap, so think it over if you want to be competitive.
